PaperTown
PaperTown are a folk/rock-duo based in Los Angeles, California. At the heart of Paper Town is a friendship that spans quite some years. Johnny Ashby, from the UK and Simon Tellier, from France, both met and studied music together in London.
Johnny, a songwriter in his own right, gained success releasing his own music which has been held to high acclaim with airplay from BBC Radio in the UK. His songs have also been featured on many Primetime TV shows including Gray's Antatomy, Pretty Little Liars and Elementary. With Huffington Post naming him as a "Top 5 Emerging Icon". Simon Tellier, a touring musician, drummer and record producer, has toured the world with many Grammy Award winning acts including Pet Shop Boys, Gloria Gaynor and Birdie.
Paper Town was born out of a long lasting friendship and a shared love for the classic songwriting styles of Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and John Lennon. Their sound is deeply rooted in the rich musical history and aesthetic of America and encapsulates the familiar sounds of Laurel Canyon in the Sixties with a subtle nod of the head to the 90's Brit pop movement.
Ashby and Tellier write radio-ready songs that have already drawn comparisons to Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, and Noel Gallagher. They've spent most of the last year writing and recording songs for their debut album and a promising future lies ahead as they now enter the mainstream with their first single Endless Summer.
